Watch the distancing, wash our hands and wear masks.
Those are the three W’s that Manitowoc County School Districts are promoting to the students to curb the spread of COVID 19. SeehaferNews.com spoke with Manitowoc Public Schools Superintendent Mark Holzman about these mitigation measures, and he said that every school district in the county is participating.
“We do know that we are seeing increased cases within our communities,” he said. “School have had small groups or larger groups that have been forced to stay home because of COVID-19.”
Positive COVID 19 cases continue to increase throughout Manitowoc County-up from 100 on July 1st to more than 900 just 11 weeks later. Holzman noted that the spread of the virus is not just in the bigger cities in the County, it has also made it to the smaller communities.
Holzman added, “We all want our kids to be back. We want to get back to festivals and sports and concerts and large gatherings, but we know that if we don’t mitigate the spread, we are going to have more and more students and staff who are going to be isolated, and who are going ot be forced to be 100% virtual.”
