The original order was set to expire Monday and has been extended 60 days until November 21st unless super ceded by a new and/or separate order. It requires anyone age 5 and older to wear a mask indoors with the exception of being in your home.
Manitowoc County Emergency Services Director Travis Waack told SeehaferNews.com, “We’re kind of at the edge where it becomes difficult to deal with from a contact tracing and isolation containment phase so we’re kind of where you start to get a little bit more concerned.”
Waack admits lots of people are suffering from mandate fatigue. “I understand that many people are starting to feel that there a bit fatigued about the guidelines and what they need to do,” he explained. “But remember the virus is very prevalent-perhaps more so than any time to date so-it’s important that we stay vigilant and do all the things that have been talked about including wearing face coverings.”
UW-Health says wearing a mask has proven tp be one of the best means of protection society has against COVID 19 however Republican State Senator Chris Kapenga of Delafield is calling on his GOP leaders to repeal the order and claims “There is not a scientific consensus that using face coverings have been proven to stop the spread of COVID.”
Neither Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald or Assembly Speaker Robin Vos have signaled any Intention of calling legislators back to Madison.
