A re-opening of the state’s economy in June, coupled with record low mortgage rates resulted in a new 3-month record in home sales for Wisconsin. Summer home sales showed a growth of almost 3% compared to the June-thru-August period of 2019.
Locally, total sales through August increased by three-tenths of one percent over the first 8-months of last year. But, the year-to-date median price rose nearly 8-and-a-half percent to $130,000.
Some interesting stats from the month of August show Manitowoc County’s median price rose 23% from the same period in 2019 to $158,500. Actual home sales fell in August from 130 to 125, the inventory of houses on the market dropped by 31%, and average days on the market decreased from 101 down to 72, or by nearly 29%.
