Wisconsin athletic director Barry Alvarez says he and other campus leaders in the Big Ten Conference are concerned about COVID-19, but doctors answered their medical question.
That’s why football resumes with practices are starting, with games coming the weekend of October 23rd and 24th.
University of Wisconsin officials reported Thursday that testing revealed 127 positive results from campus sites and another 63 students and staff who were tested at off-campus sites.
Football is coming back while dozens of students are quarantined in dorms and classes on the Madison campus are on hold.
Alvarez says the ability for daily testing suggests the situation can be controlled in a safe environment for the football program.
In other Badger News, not only is four-star safety prospect committed to playing his football at the University of Wisconsin, but the standout athlete will also be on the Madison campus a year sooner.
Allen was the first commit for the 2022 class for the Badgers, but he is reclassifying as a member of the Class of 2021. That means he can join the Badgers next summer while skipping his senior year at Fond du Lac High School.
Allen chose the Badgers over programs like Iowa, Michigan State, Michigan, and Notre Dame.
Wisconsin’s Class of 2021 is currently ranked number 16, but Allen’s decision will likely move the team up in the rankings.
