The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is tracking chronic wasting disease in the state and are asking for hunters to help them.
Any hunter who snags a deer is asked to turn in the head of the animal at any of their kiosk locations.
In Manitowoc County, there is one at the I-43 One Stop, while hunters in Sheboygan County can turn them in at the DNR Plymouth Service Center.
A full list of kiosk locations can be found at dnr.wisconsin.gov/topic/WildlifeHabitat/registersample.html
The DNR says a “robust sample size” is necessary to learn about where the disease is located in the state, and that there is a “heightened focus” for several Counties in Northeast Wisconsin including Manitowoc, Sheboygan, Brown, Calumet and Door.
