Students, teachers, and staff at Bay Port High School are in mourning as a teacher at the school has died after being hospitalized with COVID-19.
Heidi Hussl died Thursday morning, however it is not known if there were other health issues that contributed to her death. It is not clear at this time how she contracted the virus, and contact tracing showed she did not have any close contact with anyone at the school while she was infected.
Hussel was a German Language teacher at the school. A letter which was sent to the Bay Port community states, “Her positivity and passion for her students and her craft left a lasting mark on our school community.”
