The Sheboygan County Board has shot down a proposed health ordinance which was designed to deal with the enforcement of public health orders and provide legislative oversight.
The proposal was demonized by the public almost immediately after it was announced, as people became concerned about the language within, and the penalties that were listed for non-compliance.
County Administrator Adam Payne denied the claims, saying the goal was to create transparency and soften the authority already given to the County Public Health Officer in current state statutes.
