The Manitowoc County Ethics Board met yesterday to discuss a complaint filed by Supervisor Don Zimmer against the Board Chair Jim Brey.
Zimmer’s complaint says that Brey was targeting him due to his comments made at a Manitowoc City Council meeting on July 20th regarding the Black Lives Matter movement.
At that meeting, Zimmer called the BLM movement a “criminal organization, which throughout the nation has promoted looting, rioting, destruction of property, and physical attacks on law enforcement officers and others.”
The Ethics Board dismissed the complaint, saying Brey “did not harass, intimidate or retaliate” against Zimmer.
Members of the Lakeshore’s United Visionaries were in attendance at the meeting, and praised the manner in which the meeting was conducted, and thanked Brey for “upholding a standard of accountability within our county representatives.” Their full statement can be found by clicking here.
