The Manitowoc and Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Offices are investigating the death of an inmate in the Manitowoc County Jail.
Sheboygan County Sheriff Cody Roeseler says about 7:50am Tuesday morning a Manitowoc County Correctional Officer’s attention -while conducting routine rounds on the third floor of the jail- was drawn towards an inmate lying in an awkward position on a mattress and found unresponsive.
Life-saving efforts began immediately from multiple entities including Manitowoc Fire Department paramedics but to no avail and the inmate identified as a 36-year-old male was pronounced dead.
No other details are being released at this time pending notification of family. The Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office will be the lead investigating agency in this case.
