The Two Rivers City Council earlier this week approved a new ordinance regulating sidewalk cafés.
City Manager Greg Buckley says it’s something not contained in written form in the past, and would allow “for use of the public sidewalk for outdoor eating and drinking. We’ve been allowing that under an emergency order over the summer (COVID driven) but this is meant to make it permanent.”
Buckley also tells SeehaferNews.com there was a fair amount of discussion on changes in the ordinance on beer gardens specifically how late music can be played. That will be up for consideration as an actual ordinance amendment at the next city council meeting on September 21st.
Buckley says the council also voted to reactivate the city’s Environmental Advisory Board after recent concerns about water quality in the East & West Twin Rivers, as well as in Lake Michigan. The city manager will return with a recommendation for six citizen appointees, including a student representative and a council member.
