COVID-19 may’ve played a factor in the jump, but the number of building permits in the city of Manitowoc rose significantly in the first 8 months of 2020, compared to a similar stretch last year.
Information from city hall shows 2,001 permits were issued through August -accounting for a total value of construction of just over $27-million dollars. That compares to 1,876 over the same period of time for 2019.
One major difference, however, was the total construction value was much higher one year ago, at nearly $51-million dollars, meaning more building projects this year, but at a smaller dollar figure.
