On this 9-11 remembrance day, the Newton First Responders will be holding their 32nd annual Fish Boil, with protocols in place due to COVID-19 concerns.
Mark Knier, a captain of the first responders unit, said the event is going on at Newton Firefighters’ Park from 4:00 to 8:00 pm today.
Knier says the fish boil is very important because he don’t charge people when they respond to a call. He explained that “All the equipment that we use…comes from our fundraiser.”
Normally, they have a buffet-line set up and people could select what they wanted, but now it’s totally a drive-thru.
When Newton First Responders held a similar event in the spring, cars were backed-up for quite a distance.
