Members of a Common Council committee have discussed a 10-percent cut to the Milwaukee Police Department budget.
Details of the plan were released Thursday.
Supporters of the idea say the $30 million would be used to fund things like fair and quality housing, violence prevention, and mental health services.
The M-P-D is actually asking the city for an 18.5% increase to a little under $316 million.
The department currently has around 150 vacant positions.
They would go unfilled if the 10 percent cut is approved.
