The Capitol Civic Center has announced the initiation of the “Capitol Centennial Society.”
Executive Director PJ Albert spoke with SeehaferNews.com, and explained, “The Capitol Theatre opened in June of 1921 so as we approach this landmark anniversary, we want to raise funds towards continued operation of the organization and to help with the celebration surrounding the hundredth anniversary.”
Albert also said that the “Capitol Centennial Society” has two primary objectives. He said. “During the current down time we’re experiencing a part of these funds will help with overhead expenses and facility operations with the remaining portion used towards what this anniversary may be like in June of next year.”
In addition, “The Jewel of the Lakeshore” is seeking a generous donor to support the digital technology upgrade of the marquee. As Albert said, “Technology tends to move forward fairly quickly and the current outlay is pretty old with pixels starting to fade so we’re also hoping to upgrade and improve the marquee in conjunction with this hundredth anniversary celebration.”
The CCC’s Executive Director says this special project will provide an opportunity for a donor to see their name “literally in lights”. Meanwhile-three generous donors have each committed $50,000 to kick off the Centennial Society-but it’s contingent on the Capitol matching the $150,000 of initial funds.
They are looking for one hundred $1,500 contributions from Community members interested in being memorialized as part of this historic occasion.
