Construction workers have been working very hard in Manitowoc County over the summer. We spoke with County Executive Bob Zigelbauer, who said the roadwork is nearing completion.
“We wrapped up our projects on the County trunks, now we are working on the state highways,” he explained. This includes maintenance on I-43 and other state projects. He praised Vinton Construction for their work on Waldo Boulevard, which is also almost done being reconstructed. The two-year project is scheduled to be completed in November, but Ziegelbauer predicted “They will open it a little bit sooner.” It wasn’t just the road crews who worked hard, as Ziegelbauer explained. “We have a new pavilion in the Maribel Caves Park,” he said. “We had a $400,000 commitment from the DNR, and a utility fund…that was very greatly appreciated.”
The County Executive called the Maribel Caves park “unique” and said it has been attracting tourists from all over the state.
