August saw some interesting statistics as far as COVID-19 is concerned in Manitowoc County.
As one may expect, more cases of the virus were reported by the Manitowoc County Health Department in August than any other month. 233 total cases were confirmed, compared to 194 in July, 62 in June, 24 in May, and only 11 in April. Testing also slowed down a little bit throughout the month, as only 2,751 tests were performed, compared to 3,533 in July and 2,630 in June.
August also marked the first time the number of recoveries outweighed the number of active cases, which occurred on August 24th. The second death connected to the virus, was also reported, as 84-year-old Valders resident Edward Streckert passed away as the coronavirus compounded his Type 2 diabetes and heart disease.
