Water Quality in Two Rivers was discussed during a work session this week by the City Council.
City Manager Greg Buckley told SeehaferNews.com, “One of our Council Members, Darla LeClair, raised the issue of possibly reactivating the Environmental Advisory Board of the city as a city group to look into matters related to water quality, the effectiveness of our storm water program and really the overall health of our watershed on the East and West Twin Rivers.”
Buckley also addressed one major concern, saying “We’ve seen a lot of duckweed -that green heavy algae growth that’s floating on top of the rivers this year resulting from a combination of high-water levels and warmer than normal temperatures and we expect some of the runoff that adds more nutrients to the water than we like to see.”
The Two Rivers Environmental Advisory Board has been tabled for the last several years. Discussion is expected to continue at the next City Council meeting September 8th.
