
Even though Governor Tony Evers has scheduled a special session to begin today (Monday) at the Capitol, Republican lawmakers aren’t rushing to Madison.
Senator Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald says he will gavel in the session for another date.
The Republican says Senator Van Wanggaard of Racine has offered a package of bills aimed at increasing transparency and community involvement in law enforcement.
Wanggaard doesn’t believe his Republican caucus will return to the Capitol to vote on any bills, including his, until after the November election.
Democratic Senator LaTonya Johnson of Milwaukee says the “state is on fire” and Republicans won’t show up and do “what they were elected to do.”
