A bar owner in Sheboygan continued her tradition of raising money for area charities over the weekend with the 5th Annual Mustache Crawl.
We spoke with Kat Brost, who owns That Place on 8th, who said that she decided to hold her own Mustache Crawl after seeing a similar event in Chicago where thousands of people participated.
30 people took part that first year, and asked Brost what they were walking for, so they decided to begin donating proceeds to charities in the area. Brost said they have donated to the Boys and Girls Club previously but decided to change for this year’s event.
“This year, with COVID, I thought it would be nice to try to feed some families with the Sheboygan Food Bank,” Kat told SeehaferNews.com. “I understand a lot of families can’t afford a whole lot of food, and you know, jobs being done, so this year we are doing it for the Food Bank.”
Crawlers started at That Place on 8th at 1:00 PM on Saturday, walked along Lake Michigan to Meyers, Peteks, Skip’er Inn, Four of a Kind, Nine-O-Two, Dave’s Who’s Inn, Big Mikes, and ended at Indiana Joe’s.
Most of the bars on the crawl offered drink specials for the participants and donated to the cause as well. Attendance was down a little this year, a fact Brost contributes to the COVID-19 pandemic. Last year they had around 112 people, and she estimated around 58 people this year.
We are still waiting on a final count from Brost regarding the amount of money that was raised.
