Bail is set at $500,000 cash for a 40-year-old New Holstein man in connection to a stabbing death last week in Manitowoc. Craig W. Holtz is charged with first-degree homicide in which a 32-year-old Manitowoc man died.
The name of the victim is not being released at this time as authorities continue their investigation. Officers were dispatched to the 1000 block of Marshall street about 8:30pm the night of August 20th for a complaint of a man being stabbed. Upon arrival they located the victim collapsed outside a residence. He was rushed via ambulance to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. Police say that Holtz and the victim knew each other and the community is not in danger. More information will be released upon completion of their investigation.
Conditions of bail are that Holtz have “no contact” with the victim’s family, possess no dangerous weapons and report to MPD for photos and provide prints upon release. He remains in the County Jail with an initial appearance scheduled for August 31st at 1:30pm.
