Wisconsin Aluminum Foundry in Manitowoc is seeing growth and change in its plant in the 800-block of South 16th Street. Foundry CEO, Sachin Shivaram, tells seehafernews.com they’re adding a new $10 million dollar production line that will “significantly expand their capacity to make castings of a certain size” that just one other caster in the USA does at the present time. Shivaram explains the concrete work is nearly completed and the machinery should begin arriving over the next few months. He said at this point, they’re not sure exactly how many jobs will be added, but stated their production is strong and the headcount is higher now than it was before the COVID-19 crisis.
Meanwhile, Wisconsin Aluminum Foundry has embarked on a $1.5 million dollar project to replace some old wooden roofs with fire-resistant metal ones. The wood covering is actually part of the original buildings of the foundry –dating back almost a century.
Shivaram also said the street closures surrounding the plant should be done very soon and he wants to “thank the neighbors for their patience and apologize for any inconvenience.”
