A Manitowoc man was taken into police custody early this morning after he struck his ex-girlfriend with an electrical cord.
Officers were dispatched to the intersection of South 24th and Hamilton Streets at around 12:30 AM after a caller reported a domestic incident. The anonymous witness told officers that they saw the 24-year-old man hit the female victim with the cord but did not know either party, so they didn’t know what caused the incident.
Both the victim and the suspect told the officers that they had recently broken up. The female had come to their previously shared home in the 1200 block of South 24th Street and saw the man throwing her things onto the curb.
She grabbed a box cutter because she claims the man had been physical with her in the past. The man then came at her and stuck her with a cord, leaving visible injuries.
The man was arrested and is facing charges of Battery and Disorderly Conduct, each with Domestic Violence Orders.
