The Madison Community Foundation is working with downtown businesses to create a fund to help those businesses bounce back after civil unrest and looting left many of them closed.
The Madison Central Business Improvement District says the goal is $300,000 to help the businesses repair, recover and revitalize State Street.
About 3/4 of those 150 businesses suffered at least some damage.
Some of the money raised could be used for loans, job creation and preservation, public safety and health initiatives.
A Boys and Girls Club campaign donated almost 200 thousand dollars to 60 struggling businesses already.
