A not guilty plea was entered in Dane County Circuit Court Thursday for a teenager facing hate crime charges.
17-year-old DeAngelo Francisco stood mute during his court appearance. Francisco is accused of attacking a Black teenager while the two were riding on a city bus. Video surveillance footage shows Francisco called the victim a racial slur, then punching and kicking him.
He faces seven felony charges, including disorderly conduct with a hate crime modifier.
