Officials with the Horizon League have announced the postponement of all fall sports this year.
The impact of the coronavirus pandemic means athletes at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay will be sidelined. The decision comes a day after the Big East made the same announcement and two days after the Big Ten and Pac-12 called everything off.
The Thursday announcement affects men’s and women’s cross country, men’s and women’s soccer, volleyball, men’s and women’s golf, baseball, softball, and men’s and women’s tennis.
Meanwhile, Ohio State coach Ryan Day is among Big Ten coaches coming up with plans of their own for a spring football season. Day says games could start in early January and wrap up in April, just before the 2021 N-F-L Draft.
On Thursday, Purdue coach Jeff Brohm offered a more detailed proposal, with an eight-game season kicking off February 27th and ending April 17th. Then, to give players time to physically recover, the fall 2021 season would start in October and run through December 11th.
