Rhinelander city officials estimate about 200 gallons of sewage leaked into a tributary of the Wisconsin River last week before the situation was fixed.
The problem was found at the Eagle Street bridge crossing last Thursday where a sanitary force main had sprung a leak.
Rhinelander Water and Sewer Utility crews shut the main down and replaced a section of pipe.
Customer service wasn’t interrupted and investigators say there should be no adverse impact on the environment.
