Denmark edged the Manitowoc Bandits 1-0 last night in Game-1 of a best-of-3 Shoreland League Baseball Championship series.
The visiting Devilbears scored the only run of the game in the 7th on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Cole Paplham.
Winning pitcher Wes Mleziva out-dueled Bandits starter Luke Mandich and held Manitowoc to just 3-hits. Both hurlers posted 11-strikeouts in the matchup at Municipal Field.
Game-2 of the series is tomorrow night at Denmark and it’s a must win situation for the Bandits. A Game-3, if necessary, would be played in Manitowoc. Friday’s game will be aired on 97.1 FM WCUB and at CubRadio.com, beginning at 7:15.
