Financially speaking, Manitowoc County is doing well all things considered.
The County just received their audits for 2019, and according to County Executive Bob Ziegelbauer in a recently released Op-ed, “The external auditor reported that Manitowoc County has had especially strong financial results last year, and in the two previous years.”
The only major expenses recently were the renovation of the UW facility in 2017 and the Rapids Road Bridge reconstruction last year, both of which cost around $5 million, but those are both paid off.
Also last year, Ziegelbauer reports that the County “accumulated more than $3 million in our principal operating funds.”
The County Executive also said that he plans on continuing to hold the line on taxes in 2021, which has, in his words, “provided us with incentives for progress. We have become more efficient and innovate in every department.”
In the Op-ed, he also praised the County Health Department for their response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
