“You always hear the promotion from the Department of Transportation, ‘Zero in Wisconsin’. Well we are actually zero in Manitowoc County in 2020 so far.”
Those words from Manitowoc County Sheriff Dan Hartwig announcing the great news provided to the Department recently during a quarterly traffic safety commission meeting with the State Department of Transportation.
He went on to say, “I don’t know if you want to call it a shining light from the COVID pandemic, but it’s very good for our community, and obviously we want to keep it that way.”
Statewide traffic fatalities are up slightly from a year ago with 282 losing their lives compared to 259 at this time a year ago.
