Some day Packers left tackle David Bakhtiari, defensive lineman Kenny Clark, running back Aaron Jones, cornerback Kevin King and center Corey Linsley will get big paydays just not right now.
The uncertainty over whether the N-F-L will even be able to play a full season has contract negotiations on hold for many teams. Bakhtiari and Clark should get mega-deals.
Empty stadiums due to the coronavirus pandemic will cut deeply into league revenues and, if the season is called off, teams don’t want to pay upfront money for signing bonuses if the players might not play.
Salary caps are expected to be lower next season. That means the Packer players may have to wait until next year to get a new deal.
