Athletes who play most any sport at Marquette University are apparently strong in the classroom.
83% of the school’s 320 sports participants were named to the Big East All-Academic Team announced Monday.
A school-record 267 Marquette competitors appear on the list, topped by 44 from the men’s lacrosse squad.
Last year, 220 Marquette athletes were named to the team.
To be eligible, an athlete has to compete in a Big East-sponsored sport, attained a grade-point average of at least 3.0 for the preceding academic year, and completed at least 18 semester credit hours.
43 Golden Eagles actually earned a perfect 4.0 G-P-A.
