The new superintendent for the Madison Metropolitan School District says improving reading scores is one of his top priorities, along with building trust with the community.
Carlton Jenkins answered questions from the media Wednesday while being introduced to the community.
Jenkins says starting a new school year in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic will bring new challenges, especially since the fall term will get off to a virtual start.
He says the district will follow the advice of public health officials about when to return to the classrooms.
