Being a parent is hard enough but getting your child to wear a mask in public can add undue stress on a parent.
HSHS St. Vincent Hospital and Prevea Health have teamed up to give a few tips you can use to help get your child more comfortable with the idea of wearing a mask in public.
Wearing a face covering is very important in the battle against COVID-19, however children under the age of 2 should not wear them due to suffocation and choking hazards. Also, children with respiratory issues should not wear them.
For the rest of the children, be sure to talk to your child about the mask, and why it is so important. If your child has a favorite stuffed animal, put a mask on it as well, and take the time to decorate masks with our child.
It is also a good idea to practice wearing it at home so the child can get used to how it feels to be wearing one.
