Opponents of Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers’ statewide face mask mandate are said to be exploring at least two options for ending it.
The mandate went into effect Saturday.
Although legal challenges are being considered, a spokesperson for the Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty says the Legislature could take action to end the emergency order immediately.
Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald has said members of his caucus are ready to convene and do just that.
The governor’s office is maintaining that, without any kind of criminal punishment tied to the mask order, opponents have no legal basis to challenge it.
