With the number of COVID-19 cases continuing to rise in many Counties throughout the area, Manitowoc County Emergency Services Director Travis Waack says the Health Department is keeping a “keen eye” on regional hospitalization rates.
“People in Manitowoc County go to hospitals in Green Bay…and in the Fox valley and in Sheboygan, so you have to look at the complete picture,” Waack explained. “And out hospital capacity in Northeast Wisconsin is still good.”
In regards to the upcoming school year, Waack told SeehaferNews.com, “Schools did receive some sizable quantities of masks from the state and some other things to help them safely reopen.”
He also said that the County is helping by answering questions the various school districts have. In his opinion, “It’s ultimately up to them.”
The Manitowoc Public School District will operate with a “blended model” of instruction both in-person and virtual learning while the Mishicot School District has given students the option of either full in person or on-line instruction. Waack emphasizes the importance of continuing to practice good hygiene protocols which have been stressed since the start of the pandemic.
