Legendary University of Illinois basketball coach Lou Henson, known for wearing an orange blazer during games, is dead at age 88.
Henson was laid to rest Wednesday during a private funeral.
He led the Illini to 12 N-C-A-A Tournaments and had eleven 20-win seasons. Henson also won the Big Ten championship in 1984 and was instrumental in getting the 1989 team to the Final Four.
The Oklahoma native ranks fifth all-time among Big Ten coaches in total wins and conference wins.
Before being hired at Illinois in 1975, Henson coached at New Mexico State where he also took that team to the Final Four in 1970.
