A man from Cudahy is charged with second-degree reckless homicide in the accidental shooting death of his 65-year-old mother.
Police were called to a home last Friday where they found the victim unresponsive with a gunshot wound and she died at the scene. 4
5-year-old Olger Qatipi told officers that he heard a knock on a window or door, saw a shadow in the bathroom and fired his gun.
The criminal complaint says the victim was not an intruder, but Qatipi’s mother who also lived in the home.
Another resident also told police she heard a pounding noise and Qatipi noticed the bathroom door was ajar and saw a shadow.
She said he was emotional and jumping up and down in shock and regret when he realized he shot his mother.
A preliminary hearing is set for August 6th.
