Three area cities have been named in the top ten small-metros to save money in the United States.
Researchers at Self Financial analyzed the latest data from the U.S. Census Bureau, the Bureau of Economic Analysis, Zillow, and the Department of Housing and Urban Development, to come up with the list.
Sheboygan is ranked 3rd, Appleton is 5th, and Green Bay is the 6th best small metro in which you can save money. Wausau also made the list, coming in as a runner up behind Midland Texas.
The report also states that the median net worth of families in the U.S. peaked in 2007 at $140,000, but fell to $84,000 in 2013. That number has slowly been rising since, and is approaching $100,000, which it has not been since 1997.
In a separate study, the Sheboygan Area School District is listed as the 4th most affordable school district in the country in which to buy a home.
