Angelo Bortolini of Kewaunee is the unofficial winner of the 2020 Kewaunee/Door County Salmon Tournament with a 41-1/2-inch, 32.78-pound chinook he reeled in with friend Harold Shaw.
That catch was weighed in last Tuesday off their home port of Kewaunee.
The K/D Committee will be gathering today to verify all the stats, and if everything stays as is, Bortolini will get a call tonight confirming his win. If he is crowned the winner, he will receive $10,000, a free mount of his trophy by Twin Rivers Taxidermy and a custom-made, sterling silver salmon ring with a black diamond eye by Paul Spanbauer of Wisconsin Charm.
Todd Smith of Brussels is in the No. 2 spot with a 31.58-pounder he caught early in the evening on Thursday, July 23, off Algoma. Second place earns a $6,000 check and a Howie’s Tackle & Archery prize package.
