The University of Wisconsin athletics department is negotiating with Appalachian State and Southern Illinois University about payouts for a pair of canceled football games.
S-I-U was going to be paid $500,000 for the scheduled September 12th game and Appalachian State was in line for a payout of $1.25 million.
Those games were called off when the Big Ten Conference decided its member schools would play conference games only.
An official from the Illinois school is quoted as saying it will likely “take some time” to resolve the issue.
