Madison’s mayor says her constituents and people across the state are facing an unprecedented wave of unemployment, foreclosures and evictions.
Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway is seeking an extension of coronavirus relief measures through next April.
Conway was speaking during a Citizen Action of Wisconsin event Wednesday, saying people need help and the government needs to take action.
She wants federal policymakers to pass another COVID aid package to expand unemployment benefits and help childcare while working to keep small businesses going and offering support for local governments.
The Heroes Act now before Congress would mean $11 million for people living in Madison.
