Small businesses are continuing to feel the strain from COVID-19.
Fewer people are going out to eat or to buy things than they have in years past, and Congressman Glen Grothman is reminding people to support their friends and neighbors during this trying time.
“They went through a real tough time with this COVID,” the Congressman told SeehaferNews.com. “A lot of people understandably, with preexisting conditions and such, are not going out as they should not, but as they don’t go out, it becomes a devastating thing for local businesses.”
The local representative in Washington put things into perspective for those who may not quite understand how hard it has been for these business owners. He said to imagine that your personal income was cut by 30% with no warning, and your expenses remained the same. Suddenly your income has been cut by about 70%. Grothman said that kind of shift can be “devastating” for a small business.
Grothman has put his money where his mouth is, as he donated his April Congressional paycheck to local food pantries, including the Two Rivers Ecumenical Pantry, and Peter’s Pantry.
