Beloit police officers were confronted by a nine-year-old child holding what looked like a real gun Tuesday afternoon.
The officers held their fire while the child with autism told them to shoot.
He had earlier used the realistic replica gun to chase family members out of the house.
The incident started at about 4:00 p-m.
Police were able to resolve the standoff without firing their weapons.
The child was taken to a hospital to be medically cleared, then have a mental health evaluation.
He wasn’t injured and his name hasn’t been released.
