Milwaukee’s new mandatory face mask rule goes into effect Thursday after receiving universal approval by the Common Council Monday.
People in Milwaukee will have to wear a face mask when they are indoors away from home and outdoors within six feet of another person.
The mandate affects everyone over the age of three.
There are no penalties for failing to follow the rule, but the business you’re visiting could be fined or eventually shut down if they don’t enforce it.
Mayor Tom Barrett says he will sign the mandate today (Tuesday).
Council members also voted unanimously to supply free face masks to city residents if they ask for one.
