A Manitowoc man was arrested Monday afternoon after he got into a physical confrontation with his wife.
The victim called the police just prior to 4:00 PM, and officers were dispatched to the home in the 3800 block of Rock Street.
The victim told the officers that she and her husband were at a family members house, and he had been drinking. He then began to accuse her of cheating, which she denied, and the argument escalated.
When the victim attempted to call 911 fort help, the 27 year old man took the phone, and placed his hand over her mouth, impeding her ability to breathe, and told her to be quiet.
Police spoke with the suspect, who told a similar story, and he was arrested. He is now facing charges of Simple Battery and Strangulation/Suffocation, both with Domestic Violence Orders.
