The coronavirus pandemic has apparently taken out another major annual sporting event.
E-S-P-N is reporting the P-G-A has decided to postpone the Ryder Cup until next year. The international competition was scheduled for Whistling Straits in Sheboygan County in late September.
Wisconsin native Steve Stricker is captain of the 12-person U-S team that was set to take on the best golfers from Europe.
The last time the Ryder Cup was postponed was in 2001 following the terrorist attacks on 9-11. The decision probably isn’t a big shock to local officials since no construction of any kind has started on the course.
