A lakeshore resident was one of three Special Olympics Wisconsin athletes who recently had an opportunity to compete in a Virtual Gaming Event.
Michael Pribek of the Manitowoc County Miracles was among 35 athletes representing 11-states to battle it out online May 30th in Forza Motorsport 7, a popular car racing video game.
Like others, in person competition was canceled for Special Olympians due to the coronavirus pandemic. Pribek was able to achieve a Silver medal in Division-4.
For Michael, the experience was something he’ll never forget because it brought together three of his favorite things in the world. Talking with Special Olympics Wisconsin, Pribek said, “The event was really fun…I love NASCAR, video gaming and Special Olympics, and all three of my favorite things were in this event.”
The car racing video game gave Special Olympics athletes a chance to compete in ways not typically associated with Special Olympics.
Others from the state taking part were Scott Rolling of Waunakee and Robert Lambert of Viroqua Special Olympics.
