The Dane County district attorney says his office has reviewed the case and decided not to charge the Madison woman accused of shooting her former boyfriend to death.
D-A Ismael Ozanne says a portion of Wisconsin’s self-defense statute applies.
He says there was evidence of prior domestic violence in the relationship. The woman approached Madison police as they investigated the 25-year-old man’s death last Wednesday, telling them she was responsible.
She said he followed her into a parking lot where they argued. The woman said she shot him when he tried to get into her car.
No names have been released.
Ozanne says witness information and surveillance video confirmed her version of the events.
