North Shore firefighters had to rescue a 15-year-old swimmer Saturday afternoon when a piece of rebar penetrated his foot.
The victim’s name hasn’t been released. The accident happened near Big Bay Park in Whitefish Bay.
Rescuers used a large pair of bolt cutters to get him free, Then, a rope haul system was used to bring the teenager to the top of a bluff, where he was taken by ambulance to Children’s Wisconsin Hospital.
He is expected to survive.
