The selection of Utah State quarterback Jordan Love in the first round of the N-F-L draft may signal the end of Tim Boyle’s career with the Packers.
He outlasted Brett Hundley and DeShone Kizer as the team’s backup for Aaron Rodgers the last two seasons.
Most N-F-L teams now keep only two quarterbacks, but Boyle has had a full season of growth with the offense used by coach Matt LaFleur. He could be a big help for Love’s learning the scheme if he stays.
With a cap hit of only $752,000, letting him leave doesn’t give Green Bay more cap space to pick up other players either.
